Straight Edge Razors...

As most of you know, I enjoy going to the barber. My barber has an old fashion shop, and as he finishes the haircut(or basic lawn mowing in my case), he shaves my neck with a straight edge razor, follow by a plash of bay rum cologne.

Now as a separate topic, last night we went to see the new Sweeney Todd movie. My short review is that it was excellent. One of the better adaptions of a Broadway show. The straight edge razor is used to interesting uses in the movie.

While waiting for my turn today, I was very happy that the shop was packed.

Has it been a year?!?!?

Indeed it has. This Friday marks the one year anniversary of the infamous you have a small alien living inside you diagnostic. There are too many instances when I can't remember much of what happened in the first 6 months of this year, I think that is for the best. I've learned a few new medical terms, I have also learned that people react in different ways to knowing someone with a precarious medical condition, some have been very surprising.

Am I living life to the fullest, not by a long shot, too sedentary, to back to set routines. HOWEVER... doing much better than before, not sweating the small stuff and just going with the flow a lot more than my usual OCD personality allows.

My wish for all of you...pick an "I wish I would.....and do it!"

Damn snow...

last night was a true trial of patience and endurance. I left work at 2:00pm and walked in the door at 9:20pm. In the 7 hour ride, I saw about 50 cars that were abandoned or ran out of gas. Remarkably, not one fender bender withing a 2 car perimeter and incredibly no road rage attacks upon cars entering by free will or sliding on the ice into your lane. During those seven long ass hours, I had way too long to think about the upcoming anniversary, but more on that later in the week end. I am taking solace in my laundry... clean folded and put away...

quick drying cement..

It is very funny to me that last Tuesday the builder said that we didn't need to blow up rock to get the foundation in, and yesterday (saturday) as we walked around the land, we see foundation walls poured already. It appears that the house is at the edge of the abyss, very cool as far as I am concerned.

Paul surveying his land..

and we are clear..

I am not talking about TV, but about the results from the last scan. It appears that everything is looking mighty fine and the new expectation is that I hit the gym 6 times a week. Actually, according to them, I am late and should have done so a few weeks ago. That will be the new mantra, cardio, 6 times a week with weights thrown in for good measure.

Barium Sulfate

It sounds nasty doesn't it? Well now imagine a chemical banana flavoring added to it. What says you... Banana wall paper paste? Indeed, that is what this time around I had to drink. This time, my strategy was a little different, divide it into 1/3rd's and drink quickly. It mostly worked, but I knew that I was only drinking 1 500ml bottle and not two as Frau Blucher wanted me to do. The rest is standard procedure, get the connection in the vein ready and go to the scan. Cat scans are mercifully short (20 minutes), and you do them fully clothed. After that, pretend that nothing happened and went to work... with snow and ice and rain and a big ass headache.... 3:30pm and I was on my way home to do some serious ibuprofen.... headache now gone
